Unity Meeting Minutes from September 29, 2014

Hello Unity!

Today, Monday September 29, 2014, was a wonderful meeting! We had a bit of business to go over (I apologize in advance for the long windedness):
  • If anyone would like to attend a Mary Landrieu Q&A on October 1st please contact us at
  • SIL is starting a new organization for commuter students called Commuters United. It is being set up as an organization run by and for commuter student at UNO. It will be a forum for commuters to make their voice heard on campus and will be responsible for setting up new programs and initiatives for commuters. To join contact
  • We still would love for our non-active members to upgrade! The Activation fee is $8. Please remember that without the participation of our membership we cannot put on our events. To pay dues, give them to Anna, she can be reached at
  • Please submit T-shirt ideas! Either though Facebook or directly to the Unity e-mail. We have received no submissions. If we don’t receive any the E-board will make the decision ourselves.
  • The This I Believe Event is happening tomorrow night in the UC Ballroom. If you have not received your UNIV book club credit, it would be wise to attend.
  • If you would be interested in helping to start an OSTEM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Organization on campus, contact Chance Aucoin at
  • A representative of BreakOUT! Stopped by the meeting to explain what the organization is about. BreakOUT! builds the power of LGBTQ youth most impacted by the criminal justice system to affect concrete policy change to fight the criminalization of LGBTQ youth in New Orleans, LA. Our meeting topic for today was Labels, and should we be expected to label ourselves. Our next meeting will be on October 6, 2014 and it will be a Queer Quad Picnic (Field Day [very few strenuous activities]).
